  2. Create a folder named RELAY DAY on your desktop.

    Download README-RELAY.md

    Find the file in Downloads or your chosen folder and move it to RELAY DAY.

  3. Add project → choose the RELAY DAY folder → New chat.

    Send this in the chat:

    Hello! Read README-RELAY.md in this folder and start the game as instructed.

    If the app asks for network access, allow it.

Start with a single README file

You’ll need the Codex desktop app and a ChatGPT or Codex subscription to play. Any subscription plan will do. You play the entire game inside Codex.

Manifesto

We make story-driven games that teach people how to work with AI. Participants learn the fundamentals, go deeper with agents, collaborate with friends, and hand work off so someone else can take it further. Along the way, they build game scenes, content factories, agent-powered design studios, and more. We believe skills stick faster through play. Before you start

How do I start playing?

After purchase, download your starter pack and open it in the Codex desktop app. An AI agent guides you through the story while you work through each challenge in your own project.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Some games are built for cooperative play. One game license covers everyone taking part, whether that’s one friend or several. Check the number of roles before you buy.

What do I need to play?

A computer, the Codex desktop app, and a ChatGPT account. ChatGPT Go is enough to play and costs $8 per month in the US; local pricing may vary. If the game inspires you to build larger projects along the way, you may need higher usage limits.

What are Relay Coins?

Relay Coins are the currency of the Artifact Store. Convert the bonus rewards you earn while playing into Coins, then use them to collect work made by other players.

Can I learn AI through games?

Yes, that’s what RELAY is for. Every game runs inside the Codex desktop app, so each mission is real work with AI: you give an AI agent tasks, check what it gets wrong, and build your own project as the story unfolds.

How do I get started with Codex?

Install the Codex desktop app and sign in with your ChatGPT account. Chapter I, RELAY: The First Signal, is built for your first steps: the story walks you through Codex one task at a time.
